X-RAY COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY VIRTUAL WORKSHOP

1. Micro-CT Data Collection Techniques

A live demonstration of X-ray Computed Tomography (CT) measurements using a benchtop micro-CT scanner. The audience will participate in selecting scanning conditions and compare different results. We will discuss how to optimize various parameters, such as X-ray energy, resolution, scan time, and sample preparation. We also encourage the participants to ask questions about the challenges they face with their CT measurements and discuss them together.

You will learn:

  • How CT scans are done, starting from mounting the sample to obtaining the reconstructed volume data
  • How to optimize CT scan conditions based on the sample material and size
  • How each scan condition affects the contrast, resolution, and signal to noise ratio
